お粥: okayu in Japanese and "jook" in Cantonese. A simple porridge/congee for those days when you're took sick to cook anything.
Just throw in a handful of rice into chicken or dashi (katsuobushi and konbu boiled together) stock and let it boil until desired consistency. You can add pork or chicken if you want. I added pork that has been marinated with a bit of soy sauce, sesame oil, and ginger. If you do add meat, be sure to add it during the last few moments before serving to ensure that they'll be tender. Garnish with green onions if desired.
